Explore the world’s coal transportation terminals in 2022

  • Date Published: August 5, 2024

In recent years, traded coal accounted for 15 to 20% of world coal consumption. The import and export of coal requires infrastructure known as coal terminals. These are specialized facilities used for the loading, unloading, storage, and transshipment of coal between different modes of transportation, such as ships, trains, and trucks. Coal terminals are typically located near coal mines or in strategic coastal locations to facilitate the efficient transportation of coal to domestic and international markets.
